Yes. Most of the ppl here got it right that Christmas is about celebrating Jesus Christ birth day. He was not born on that day but nobody knows for sure. So it was decided that 25th December to be declared as Christmas Day. The presents given during Christmas is to remind us that the birth of Jesus Christ is a gift to all mankind.

Of lately, ppl missed the point of celebrating Christmas and also other festivals.

Since I am not religious .. xmas is just a marketing gimmick to get all the dumb motherfuckers to spend MORE money at the stores. Giving better than receiving .. sure right .. $$$ to the retailers .. lol

christmas is a holiday for the christ i think and to bind that day to santa is the doing of the Dutch immigrant.
Because in America they don't really have anyday that has attach Sinterklaas to a celebration in this way they have attach the two togheter.

the image of santa in all children mind is created by coke as far as i know.

the original reason is for the celebration for the birth of Christ
however the story about St Nicholas (i.e Santa Claus) has come about for the children and now people seem to see Christmas is a holiday, an excuse to buy presents (which most people seems to get in debt with), to get totally and utterly drunk (which i mostly do) or to get a few days off (which some people have Christmas bonus)
it is now over commercialised jsut liek Valentines day and Easter, but what can we do to change them? NOTHING! it is like a tradition for us to do this
tbh i don't like Christmas coz it's a waste of money and a waste of time, yes it is nice to spend itme with family jsut not the whole family reunion when you don't wanna see certain family members...

Christmas is the Jesus' birthday. We celebrate this day because he'd done sometime good, which I'm not sure what it is.
