Hong Kong has recently named "The White Storm 2 - Drug Lords" as its representative film in its bid to win the Academy Awards' Best Foreign Language Film.
As reported on Mingpao, the Federation of Motion Film Producers of Hong Kong announced the news on 25 September, saying that it has made the decision based on the votes for the entries submitted from October last year to September this year.
If the film makes it to the top five, it means that Louis Koo and Andy Lay would have the opportunity to make it to the Oscar's red carpet.
Directed by Herman Yau and released in July this year, "The White Storm 2 - Drug Lords" tells the story of Yu (Andy Lau), a former triad member who vows to destroy the drug cartel in Hong Kong using his wealth and connections.
The 92nd Academy Awards will be held on 9 February 2020.
