well i gues there is a purpose, is live your life, what else is how u approach the term purpose of life

I don't think that LIFE has a purpose but MY sole purpose for existing would be to make myself happy.
well... the purpose of life... dunno what it is... just find a balance between having fun/happiness (ego) and being helpfull (to society, surrounding etc)....
The purpose of life is to procreate with the most genetically advanced member of your species in order to advance the species as a whole. Thus, the purpose of life is to evolve.
Like the poster above me stated, our purpose is to reproduce and survive as a species. At least that is the purpose of every living being on our planet. Its quite simpel if you look it that way, but in order to survive we have to create a safe haven for ourseles and our family and the comming offspring. That is why we work to improve the living conditions and status of ourselves, mostly to increase the chances of survival of our own and our offspring.
meaning of life is to suffer... yeah we have fun, gain experience and all that but they will all be taken away from us when we die.. we suffer as a child with all those vacination jabs, chicken pox and sicknesses.. as a teenager we suffer for being a rebel or to be told what we have to do or have no life.. as an adult we suffer through broken hearts, seeing people you care die, having too many responsibility that you wish time turns back when you was a kid.. last of all who says dying is peaceful, there's always some sort of pain invovled before or during the cause of death.. WOW i sound well depressive lol but on a happy note i guess the meaning of life is for people to discover new things... like fun and drugs hahaa
Not being preachy... but stay away from drugs. There is no such thing as safe experimentation. To use a cliche line, there is no take 2 in life. But cliche are cliches for a reason. There is so many ways you can package truth. But that does not mean it is not relevant... You spoke very beautifully about the process we go thru and all the mired pain. But we have to turn our hearts into acknowledging that those experiences are meant to humble us. In essence, we evolve and grow. Tune into happiness and you will always find small joys about. Doesn't cost money at all, if you are to begin to appreciate the small little victories of everyday people. Cheers
I believe that life is all about reaching and mastering your goals and aspirations. Another words, to become 'self-actualised' as many say. It is also to learn what your position in this world is and what you can offer to society to go one step further to a better place. =)
Ermm.. i am a happy person but i thought for this thread i should sound the opposite to see what the out come is like... im not encouraging people to take drugs but since time has began, people takes drugs but not as we define drugs now.. its more for spiritual and tribal traditions to find answers from the nature gods or whatever to be perfectly honest there is no right and wronganswer to "the purpose of life" coz everyone has their own views, but what i said i jsut generalised to the whole world.. certain people may experience differently because they were not from the working class maybe from a rich/royal family which they do not need to know the meaning of suffering...
I don't think there really is a purpose of life. We are supposed to survive, so that we outlive other species, but for what purpose, I don't know. We don't really have a task to make the world better or be useful to the planet Earth. Life is just there, so let's just enjoy it and see what comes.

The purpose of life is deep. Try being in the now and see where that leads. Dont think of the future or the past just be in the now.

People say we live for those that are closed to us feel welcome and accompany. Everyone has thier own way to define the meaning behind this intricate question but yet not many would fully know what it means. As for you, don't spend time thinking about it just let the current takes its course.
Err... when you say "We are supposed to survive" Then your purpose of life is to survive... so whoever agrees with him, you are agreeing that there is a purpose and not without a purpose -^_^

i have been thinking about the same question what is the purpose of living. it is not as simple as it sound like. everybody seems to think they know waht they want in their life, such as money. however, without friendship, family and relationship what is money really for? would anyone exchange money for the live of their parents? the question the purpose of life is a hard question
