think about it... if China didn't have as many soldiers and armies as it does now... do you seriously think they would still be a sovereighn nation today? Soldiers not only play an important role in aiding those in need in their country, (ie natural disasters) they are also responsible for guarding the welfare of a nation, not just going to war...
No, I don't think it's about war either but I don't find these pics funny. There's a guy standing by what looks like shallow graves. They are crying, alone, dirty, wet, freezing. They're eating snow and cooking eggs over a shovel for crying out loud. No, I don't find these pics funny, but it gives me a new perspective on the life of a soldier though.
I'm jus glad it was pics with blood all over them... and I was able to get some cooking lessons from it. Like some1 said before... very hardcore.

And THAT is why people fear the Chinese military. But seriously though, they need to get new camos- their current ones are pretty shabby.
