One of the newest films from HK (just in the theaters) Along with battle of wits this one also looks promising to me compared to other new HK films that was out last year You guys have any thoughts about this new film ??
no more remakes hollywood needs to stop remaking asian films. the ones that they pick to remake (american version) usually ends up really bad. horror films turn into comedies and well, serious films just aren't that great. they need to stop copying asians and come up with their own movies and better ideas for them.
lol IF u guys seen it, they're copying a remake of Infernal Affairs, i forgot wuh it was called, but yea...u noe how Tony Leung wit da cast around his arm lol same shit they're making 1 like dat scrubz yo lol
The American remake is called "The Departed" which has been out for a while already. Personally I found it somewhat boring, maybe because I've seen the original or maybe just because I'm not American and find the characters a little odd. Hope Confession of Pain is going to be good, heard it was somewhat decent from reviews on the net. A lot of things seem to get lost between cultures and some people can't be bothered watching subtitles, that is just the way some things are. At least it allows the movie to reach a wider audience and possibly even get them to watch the original.
I don't think it really works that way, most people will still remain ignorant of the fact that the film is a remake. I agree about things getting lost between cultures though, that's why I think making remakes takes all the original meaning out of a film.
heard that if there is an american remake, the director would direct that too since he wasnt too happy with the american remake of infernal affairs
Yeah, it just annoys me that people think "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is the best asian film ever made. There are thousands of asian films better than that. I once replied on a forum to some people reviewing 'Returner' (I love that film!). A guy said that if the film had been made in Hollywood with Hollywood actors it would have been good -shock ! That really annoyed me.
I heard a lot about this movie. I enjoyed this but I don't like the idea Tony being a villain. He is not totally a bad guy, it is just what he think is justice to what have happened to his whole family, like he told Takashi, imagine, you lost everything just like that. But Tony is sooooo g-d coool, you will just go oooo its ok, you are not a villain, you are forgiven for what you have done. LOL Surprise surprise, I kinda like Takashi there too although he is the one who uncover Tony's almost perfect plan. Shu Qi, a minor role but then good, waiting patiently for Takashi to like her. Wow wonder this will do well like The Departed in Hollywood although like what you guys said, there are lots of other good movies outside not picked by hollywood
I think it was ok. Rather disappointing perhaps. Didnt like the fact that they revealed the killer so early. Not much suspense. I dun think the movie build up the emotions well either. The scene where Tony killed the father-in-law portrayed him as very cold and ruthless. But as the story was uncovered by Takashi, I couldn't feel his reason for vengeance till the extend that he would murder his wife. Perhaps too much of it was through dialogues and from third party (Takashi).
the movie is quite borin at 1st but when it cums 2 the conclusion...kinda nice....but compare with infernal affairs...infernal affairs leads by a large margin....
can some1 tell me? wut happened to this site...i remember u used to be able to download movies or get links to download movies from the forums...what happened?
I agree however if it's anything remotely close to The Departed maybe it won't be as bad.... Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro are two of the best actors outta HK, and they really do not disappoint, Amazing plot, a great twist put in there.... Great movie..
this movie is very good... with good actor and great direction from the directors.. it would be better if they keep the killers identiy till the end
