Try this if your progs can't connect to the internet.

Also, if you have some sensitive info on your comp (e.g. Credit card info, Social Security #, etc), it's best just to wipe it and start anew (or at least run hijackthis and post it on forum that will check your log to make sure your system is as clean as possible). If you decide to reformat, try making a partition for your OS separate from your data such as mp3, rmvb, etc if you only have 1 hard drive in your computer. Install all the stuffs you will use (AIM, anti-virus, etc) and make an image for your OS partition with programs such as Acronis True Image, Terabyte Image, ShadowStor, Norton Ghost, etc (pick one). Next time, if you got these craps from the net again, you can do a simple restore from the image and you won't lose any other data since you made a separate partition for those files.

    and also a reminder.
Make sure u have recover console installed before using combofix.
The combofix writer stress on this so if anything wrong. u can save urself.

To do it, download ur recovery console(for windows XP only) from microsoft
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994

    save it to ur desktop.
Click and drag it to Combofix.
Combofix will now install the recovery console for u automatically.
