How to buy UNLOCKED GALAXY for US CARRIERS? I was told that places like Amazon sometimes carry gray market models, even the online retailers like Newegg. Anyone has any ideas? Most online stores use distribution warehouses which is why it seems sketchy. Thanks. Can the unlocked phones be purchased at actual store in BEST BUY?
First, what carrier are you planning to use it on? It's not good to buy a gray market/international variant for US usage, as it does have limited LTE bands and some apps do not work in the US, like Samsung Pay when using an international variant in the US. Buying a Verizon model will be unlocked for GSM use (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.), but the problem about buying a carrier model is that the LTE bands are kind of limited also to the certain carrier that phone is made for. So mainly buy the carrier you want to use it for and request an unlock code afterwards. If you can wait a few more weeks or maybe months, there should be an unlocked version for the US eventually...
You can pre-order an unlocked version of the Galaxy S8 starting today from Samsung or at Best Buy. http://www.samsung.com/us/explore/galaxy-s8/buy/s/Carrier
