    I've been a Graphic Designer for over 5+ years and have a bachelors in it. But I went back to school to study Advertising.
    What would you like to know about Graphic Design?

    Depends on what department of advertising your talking about. Most people don't understand the different departments. As a 'advertiser' you can do many things such as:

    -Copywriting
    -Creative
    -Account management
    -Strategist
    -Art Direction
    -Art/Media Buyer
    -and lots more.

    Over all, advertising is a competitive field but always a growing one. Since this thread is a graphic designer thread; graphic designers get paid well. When I'm talking about graphic designers, I'm not talking about the kid who pirated Photoshop and cranking out 'Club Poster'. I'm talking about about professional graphic designers who knows how to use Adobe Creative Suite across the board. WDIM, Flash and etc. Graphic Designers are treated well and there's always a job for you. But it's also one of the pickiest jobs, because all designers/artists have their own style, and it's hard to find a company that will allow you to express your style as a lot of companies have their own color palette, image and etc. Most graphic designers also freelance for a living, which is a good way to earn a income; but it's a very slow start.
