i believe in it too.. but perhaps is not reli the future they tell.. its just cause and effect. And the reason y ppl are sceptical is because there are alot of cheats out there who claim to tell fortunes. And with all those horoscopes and zodiac stuff. Makes it all entertainment. I believe in such skills like palm and face reading, just that not all fortune tellers are real

Definitely believe in such fortune-telling. Only you are able to get some real answers from well-known Fengshui Masters from own countries, not those commons at temple or streets. Pls forgive me if i have said something negative like that. The true fact is your whole life is pre-destined by God. No total control but it is up to you to master your own destiny. The other important factor is you must remind yourself to commit a good karma as you can. Then you will be blessed no matter how bad situations you have gone through. Okay if one doesn't believe in like that. To each to his own ok :D All right? Have a nice day!

if you just go to anyone whom claimed to be a fortune teller then the chance of it is false is very high. my mum once said that there was a guy (in china) who can tell fortune at a certain time when a spirit went into his body. lots of people went to him and most of them said what he said is pretty true.

last time no, but now yes.

Happened after I met a fortune teller that could explained my past experience with above 90% correct.

In Seoul there are all these little fortunetellers' tents on the streets and the last time I was there my sister dragged me into so many of them. I didn't get my fortune told but listened to them tell my sister her fortune. It was funny how they would say one thing and then look at my reaction to gauge whether they were getting warm. When I gave no reaction one of them took a stab in the dark and told her that she's going to become a sool jip ajumma, or a bar maid. -lol I think he just said that because she happened to be showing a lot of skin that day.

My boyfriend called a psychic hotline a few yrs ago and the so-called psychic told him that he's going to end up marrying someone who has freckles and is one-quarter Irish. -unsure

^nop, i think its all BS, just ppl trying to scrape a few dollars. If they can really tell the future, y would they be sitting there waiting for customers rather than go buy a lottery ticket and become a millionaire?

I believe in fortune telling to a certain extent. It is not advisible for the fortune teller to look too deep (thus they give you somewhat vague answers) as it may affect your life choices.

@wind: they cannot change the future, they can peek into it. And the price is much steeper than a few million dollars if they disregard their rules -- Chinese fortune tellers are known to believe that they need to compensate their "trespassing" by doing a lot of charity (donate most of what they earn so that to off set the punishment/karma). And I guess by the same logic if they seek financial gain with their vision, I have a feeling they may die prematurely... or their lives will be shortened A LOT...

Of course, it's all speculations. But I am kind of open to it, though I personally will not have my fortune told despite the temptation.

i don't fortune telling is true. it's all by chance. i watched a show where this one guy who didn't believe in fortune telling nor have any "training" (if there is some sort of training for fortune telling?) pretended to be a fortune teller and said very vague things to people he didn't meet before such as "i see a white car and it seems ominous; be wary of a white car" and the person will respond.. "yes! i know exactly what you're talking about". i just cracked up because obviously, the guy was totally making up everything he said.

Well, I am not saying that fotune telling scams don't exist... It's just possible that the fortune could be told for real. But I guess I won't find out ever since I won't have my fortune told... The idea itself is scary if it have even a remote chance to be true and accurate.

I think some fortune tellers can be quite accurate but the majority are just cons. Some people are really sensitive and can read your facial expressions even when you think you're not giving anything away. (Derren Brown, a great illusionist from the UK for example)

But I admit I like to keep in mind the postive things a horoscope is predicting for me though, nothing wrong with that, whether you believe it or not. Or take it with a pinch of salt.

I went to a temple yesterday just to have a look... and then I saw people "khaw tsiem"... u know people on their knees with something like a wooden cup with little sticks in it... so... i was curious and wanted to give it a shot too... so i did it.. and i kinda like regret doing it.. I asked koon yam about my love life... i didnt get very good news... something like If id get a bf now id be very very happy with him at first but no matter what we wont be able to last... u know thats freaky to hear... But then the guy asked me if i was seeing anyone... so i said no... and then he was like oh...well then im not sure... u should come back when u have a bf...so now my family just telling me to not take my next relationship too serious... what do u guys think?

^i don't trust those fortune tellers. it seems your fortune teller wasn't even sure if what he said we correct, so i'd just dismiss it. this brings to mind the show "that's so raven". the only reason why what she sees in the future becomes true is because she makes it true.

@ angie: I think the guy was just taking a chance, maybe he was trying to get you on the rebound? :p

Seriously tho, if one can really "peek" into the future, then one might as well change it no? I think this fortune telling is simply man-made fiction. There's always the power of suggestion that comes into play.

Haha, when I was in Kyoto we went to a temple as tourists, I wanted to 'kow chiem' for the fun because it was supposed to be a pretty accurate one. My friend and I both got the highest 'chiem' you can get (we checked what other people had and they really had more ordinary ones) and the monniks gave us a surprised look that 2 foreign tourists got these lucky 'chiems'.

Concretly it said that things like "from now on everything can only turn better in live...." >>>we showed this to our tourleader and we all laughed; that's because we were leaving Kyoto and hence we will stay at decent hotels again.

The 3 days in Kyoto we were staying at a really crappy hotel (from the 60's including the same age furniture, huge cracks in the walls, dirty toilets, no internetconnection and it looks like a typical depressing hotel where the lonely businessmen would commit suicide) because the usual hotel the travel organisation was booking was full and they had to seek an alternative one for us at last minute.
