i use ConvertXtoDVD and it's very easy to use. Just drag the files and click convert. it even has the option to burn it onto dvd, eliminating the need for another burning program.
I am having the same problem as you, babs. My converted series plays canto and mandarin at the same time. I can't seem to change to canto either. Calling for HELP from me too!
hmm.. then why not just download canto only? woot PA is back up but so slow for some reason.. hmm.. WinAVI.. im pretty sure it doesn't do the audio things.. but you can try xlisoft video converter.. but you'll need full version..
its not easy to just find a canto version only sometimes!!! anyways, it totally sucked cause i watched an entire series up until the last ep which was dual lang!! so i just converted the file to dvd format and played on my entertainment system which allowed me to cancel out the right speaker. it worked but my parents dont have that option to do that so me SOL!!!!!! tvseries - i'll keep looking to see if we can fix our problem cause it is irritating me!
can someone please tell me how to merge the subtitle file into the video file please!!! i cant figure it out thanks
i read the private message you sent me babs, i have no clue, some of the dvd burner software has a function that lets you include subtitle.. i'm not sure how it works since i don't really burn movies onto a dvd.. and i don't care about subtitles at all.. so i never tried how...
I'm burning up to 6 episodes on a 4.7G disc. When i convert more than 6 eps (around 200mb a piece), the result is two dvds and i cant burn them on one disc. Is there anyway for me to retain quality and possibly get up to 7-8 eps/disc?
I want to know too, most of the movies have seperate subtitle files. And was wondering how many episodes can you fit onto a dvd 4.7GB... converting .rmvb to dvd using winavi.. and burning using nero.
depends on the source of the audio: 1) if the source audio is in TWO channels, meaning Cantonese on one channel, Mandarin on the other, then you can use free software like virtualdub to "demux" video [ split audio and video into three pieces/files ] then "remux" the Cantonese audio file wih the video file...done. 2) if the source audio is in ONE channels, meaning both Cantonese and Mandarin are on one channel.( this is the case, most of the time with downloads) then you are SCREWED! well not exactly, but this will take a lot of time and effort to get Cantonese out of this video. you probably have to record the video in VCR by disabling the Mandarin audio then recapture into Computer files, then convert file to DVD....works...works...works.... depends on what format is the video, for ".avi", use virtualdub, which merges any sub to an avi video. for fitting videos into a DVD in Winavi, just select as many files as you wanted, and click "convert"; whatever can not fit into a single DVD disc is split into another disc by the program... then you know how many episode fits in one, by looking at the split. how many files can fit into a DVD depending on the definition of the video.( higher definition means less files)
I use ConvertXtoDVD for anything I tend to rewatch, it's about 4 eps per dvd, for one offs, I use TMPGEnc dvd, I can get up to 8eps max. TMPGEnc DVD I also use if there are 2 audios on one stream, it can split it no problem, if you have a good tv the second audio may still be heard now and then, so I use dvd strink to disable the audio I don't need afterwards before burning. I use Winavi to convert most of my rm files, anything it can't do(sometimes there is no audio), I use Any Video Converter, it's slower than Winavi but it works.
What you can do to fit more eps on a dvd is set Winavi to convert to lowest quality in the advanced settings; (video quality is good still); and dvd vob file will be 600-700mb in size, which in turn 6-7 eps can fit on a dvd. You can fit even more eps; for example 10-12, by authoring the dvd first (I use TMPGenc DVD Author) and shrink with DVD Shrink program (freeware) then burn. DVD Shrink comes with its own dvd burning program so after it is done with the shrink, it will burn the DVD. When shrinking a dvd, shrinking it to 70% and under will result in blocky video much like VCD. You'll be able to fit 10-13 eps when DVD Drink is set at 80%.
ok, so we've gotten tons of info on converting to dvd to fit more eps onto a disc. how about converting to avi format through WinAvi 9.0? i'm converting to avi format and i end up fitting about 5 eps on each disc. now i know this shouldn't right! i've got to be able to fit more otherwise i might as well convert to dvd!
