i would say anything more than 10 episodes on one disc will affect the quality.... but for drama, i wouldn't say u will miss anything if u have 12 or 13 in one disc.... most of the time i am not watching, just listening... hehe..

yeah... with winavi you can select 12 episodes and convert it... it might overflow to disc 2, so what i do is i select a higher capacity disc 4.7 or 8.5 GB, then after conversion it maybe around 5GB and use DVD Shrink 3.2 to make it to a 4.3GB and burn... if u want to add a menu, then import it to TMPGEnc to add a menu (do this first b4 u use DVD Shrink 3.2) then burn.

    hope this helps.

if u select 8.5gb will the quality end up being better? and how is the quality of the episodes. are they better than vcd would u say if u put 12 episodes on one single layer dvd?

=.= this is gona sound so technical: files/episodes which results in VOB doesn't really matter at all. The technique to lose less on the quality is due to the effects on the formated raw/file which use to create the vob files.
DVD Shrink is a transcoder not a re-encoder. Transcoders do not change colors or pixels. It alters the math of the encoding equation, which results in data being thrown out. The outcome of this is blocks more noise in the video. If the video is very high quality and clean with excessive bitrate (many DVD releases), then it can work up to a point. If the source is homemade (already noisy), then you can easily make it look bad, even by a slight alteration. Some DVD releases are noisy and lack bitrate
What DVD Shrink Does is, DVD Shrink is a transcoder not a re-encoder. DVD Shrink only changes the color of the pixels and thus saves space (adjacent pixels with almost same color is changed to have the same color).
Video bit rate stays the same as normal.
    VBV buffer is same aswell.

If the Scource is Already Noisy use "HC Encoder" -- http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HC --- On MPEG2 FILES

ALWAYS USE "analysis" before "backup", "maximum sharpness", provided by DVDShrink.

And i love TPMGEnc i nearly use all thier programs that includeds Tmpg Dvd Author/Adobe Premier <--- fancy menus^^
    Then Shrink

VCD is an mpeg1 based format, with a constant bitrate of 1150kbit at a resolution of 352x240 (NTCS). VCDs are generally used for lower quality transfers (CAM/TS/TC/Screener(VHS)/TVrip(analogue) in order to make smaller file sizes, and fit as much on a single disc as possible. Both VCDs and SVCDs are timed in minutes, rather than MB, so when looking at an mpeg, it may appear larger than the disc capacity, and in reality u can fit 74min on a CDR74.

so what type of compression would u recommend for no visible quality loss when using dvdshrink and is it the best one out there? also, how does hc encoder work for grainy videos. how can it actually fix it, surely if a video is bad quality originally u can't rele fix it.

Just use this software:TMPGEnc DVD Author with DivX® Authoring 3.0.5.149
It can fit in around 10 to 12 eps in a normal dvd
