get a computer that will go 2 years or so now is the norma...but i htink these manufactures built in dying at 3 years so u buy a new one
well they can't rele do that cos u can get 3 year warranty but they just make it not lost as long as it could be and they do this with cheaper materials when better materials can be used. my current pc that im using at the mo is like 5 years old anyway and its still working fine.
for the record... about warranties... when u pay with a credit card like Visa, there's an extra bonus from Visa where they double your manufacturer's warranty... Discover gives you a 5% return i think...
ya dats why i said its built to die in 3 years cuz the warranties now adays is 3 years and most people don't bother to extend the warranty on the system. For most users a 5 year old computer will do what they want if its just browsing the net and doing word processing, its really the gamers that are constantly upgrading because games get more elaborate and need more raw processing power to play look at crysis for example..it won't run on a old computer and even new ones will have issues getting it to play at full potential
In my opinion, I wouldn't recommend the quad core because not many programs currently support four cores anyway, so dual core is fine. Since intel released their new E8xxx series, all processors for dual core have been going down heaps because of their new microtechnology. Basically, their new dual core series, are smaller and are more efficient, so you should be fine with the E8xxx series. I have a E8400 and 2GB RAM and I can use photoshop without lag. Yeah, and about crysis, i can run that fine as well with my 8800GT.
