Wow, i am building interest for Lee Hom because i used to don't think he was that good of a singer and his songs not appealing to me. But after the "kiss goodbye" recently, my thoughts totally change. he is pretty cute himself sometimes but sometimes dorky, but in a good way. Keep it up. luv the slow songs.
I recently requested reviews of some of the albums posted here and I haven't read any responses. So I'm going to start by reviewing "Heroes of Earth" by Wang Lee Hom. First off, I'm a total novice to C-pop. I only started listening to Mandarin songs again like two months ago. I used to listen to them as a kid, 20 or so years ago, and I haven't had much exposure to them since I moved to the US. So here goes --I like "Heroes of Earth," overall. Unlike Guang Liang's albums, which I love but find a little bland after awhile because of similar style in almost every song, Wang Lee Hom latest album has a more varied selection. This is admirable because you can see his range as an artist. That said, "Heroes of Earth's" best songs are still the ballads like 大城小愛 (Ta Chen Siaw Ai), 第一個清晨 (Ti E Ke Ching Sen), Kiss Goodbye and 愛 因為在心中 (Love On My Mind). His hip-hop inspired songs like 在梅邊 (Beside the Plum Blossom) and 蓋世英雄 (Heroes of Earth) featuring Jin 歐陽靖 & 李岩 are very good and very well produced. There are a few misses though like 讓開 (Make Way), 花田錯 (Mistake in the Flower Field), and 哥兒們 (Brothers), which were messy. But the most interesting songs are those mixing hip-hop beats with traditional musical instruments. Jay Chou did the same thing with his new soundtrack song for Jet Li's movie, Fearless. It's definitely fun to listen.
