Haha. You didnt have to quote the whole post. LOL. I still need to download POT as i heard its really good. Got loads yet to watch though so i'll stick to what i have got at the moment. P.S. If you like sports anime, i'd recommend Hajime No Ippo. Boxing anime. Very cool.
this is not in order of my top ten, and i am probably not thinkin of all the anime i've actually seen, but off the top of my head, is the ten that i can think of... 1) The Super Dimension Fortress Macross because robotech, regardless of how bad the changes were from the original SDF1-Macross, was one of the first japanese anime shown in the U.S. that involved a dramatic story-line aswell as deaths, including main characters, which hadn't been done, previously. it never finished playin in the early 80's when i first was watching it, and i assumed they took it off, due to the death and violence, aswell as the romance that americans weren't ready for, in an animation series jumping to something more recent 2) Blood+ rarely disappoints... the movie it was based on, blood: the last vampire, was devoid of a plot, but for it's time, had superb animation, and was the first anime that had americans speaking english, vietnamese speakin vietnamese, and the japanese people speakin japanese... a bit of a disappointment, but definitely worth at least a watch, while the anime was a complete turn-around... it has every aspect that i feel a good anime should have... won't go into those aspects as not to ruin anything of the series for those who haven't watch it yet, but at the very least, will say that the animation is top-notch for a series, and the pacing of the show is well-done... 3) Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal OAV the ruroni kenshin series, i thought, was below average and lack-luster, though i did watch it through, and enjoyed some parts of it... in contrast, the Samurai X OAV was brilliant... 4) non-filler Naruto i'd prefer not to list something so main-stream, but watching naruto before it was so popular, i'll have to admit that it was highly addictive, and i couldn't wait to see the next episode... never drags as much as many previous action-anime such as dragon-ball z (took frieza over a week to blow up namek in two minutes), and the story-line is usually great... and a main character has died... 5) Bleach same review as naruto, except that the fillers were actually watchable... i think more people need to die in bleach, though... they could have easily killed of sado by now... 6) Fushigi Yuugi though primarily a shojo anime, i've gotten a lot of male viewers to watch and get hooked on this series... the end of the first season and begining of the second season are especially great... if you've seen this and enjoyed it, i'd suggest watching Ayashi No Ceres, aswell... 7) Mai-Hime skip the very last episode, and it's a great anime... the first episode was one of the best first episodes in an anime that i have seen in recent years... it was enough to keep me wantin to watch through the next few boring episodes, where it takes an unexpected turn probably around episode six, and it's great on until 25... again, skip the last episode if you can... haha 8) Samurai 7 kurosawa's seven samurai was a rather long movie, which surprisingly, most of the main characters weren't given much back story... still, it's obvious why this movie is a classic and remains a staple in samurai movies to this day... the characters are well likeable, and the plot is a tale-old type of story, that can always be appreciated... at first, i was a little confused who was who, since i thought a lot of the characters looked alike, but as long as kambei was distinguishable, it was enough... samurai 7, the anime based on kurosawa's masterpiece, was quite a good adaptation, though on first impression, one would find it weird, samurais vs giant robot and mech bandits in comparison to it's classic counterpart... the characters in the latter are given a little bit more motivation for their actions, as the series spans 26 episodes and gives way for a little more time to build on characters, even adding in main characters that did not seem misplaced... only complaint i have about the series, is the slow pacing here and there... besides occasional slow pacing in the series, i'd recommend either to anyone who either watches samurai movies or anime... 9) Vampire Princess Miyu (OAV... i have not seen the series) VPM was a great horror anime in the sense that, unlike many horror animes of its time, it didn't use disfigured, stupid-looking monsters that failed to be scary, and were rather more comical than anything else.. instead, VPM went with a story-line that was unique and genuinely creepy... of the four part OAV, the second episode and the fourth episode were especially good... 10) Gundam Wing i have many friends who preferred gundam seed oveer Gundam Wing, but i thought the dynamics of the series, aswell as the character motivations were exceptional in GW... there was rarely a clear-cut villian, or hero for that matter... the characters had depth, and everyone had a valid reason for their motivations... some get lost with the politics of the series, but i think it was a good potrayal that life isn't always black and white, there are sometimes shades of gray, there isn't always a good side and a bad side, and GW potrays that along with a solid story-line and great mecha fighting sequences... most of the characters in the anime are great, and easily likeable... for further backstories on all five gundam pilots, can find gundam wing: episode zero manga scans on the internet... though i can no longer find a place that has scans with the translations, translations without the manga scans can be found on other websites... i can't think of all the bad anime i've seen, probably because they were too horrible to bother to remember... what i have seen recently, though, was air tv, and i thought that was pointless, although a few parts were still entertaining... others i know enjoyed lain, but i thought it was horrendously slow paced and not worth the watch... two oav's i thought weren't so great was shinjuku: demon city, and ninja: resurrection, the latter which clearly was attempting to use ninja scroll's success, as i have run into numerous people who believe that it is the sequal... i thought the 26th episode and series finale of mai-hime made the show bad, and could have done without it... i disliked everything except the ending of the first vampire hunter d movie, and liked everything about vampire hunter d: blood lust, except the ending... i thought X was good, except the ending, even without the character development, that i hear is prevalent in the series, which i have not yet had a chance to view... anime that was good even though it was bad, include: the sailor moon series, the dragon ball series, ronin warriors, and even voltron... they were somewhat good for various reasons and yet, also rather horrible...
Dont want to see people dressed as turtles: School Rumble Dont want to break my laptop after watching something so shit and stupid: Love Hina Dont want to see Van "She Dead" Damn's acting: Wake Of Death I'll leave the crap shows to u "Master_G"!!!
@master_g: ur the one that said Dodge ball was good. I said it was wack. u joka. Layer Cake is sick man. u just wasnt ready to watch it.
Just been watching Initial D recently. Its been lying on my hard drive for time and thought i might as well check it out. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Aint had this much of a thrill since watching Naruto at its peak!!!! Awesome anime. If you like the Need For Speed Games or the Fast and The Furious Movies, this is the anime to watch!!! As well as giving u a thrill it is also very very VERY funny at times. Mitsuo Iwata who does the voice for Itsuki Takeuchi just craps me up!!! Well worth watching guys!!!
My favorite anime is Hunter X Hunter, but I've seen most and a lot of others that are not on your list, but One Piece is one of best animes I've seen, 300+ episodes and the story keeps going. There was only one part of the anime which I thought was boring. The series might just end up hitting over 400 episodes. Initial D Fourth Stage wasn't that good compared to the seasons before it. I also can't wait till School rumble third series comes out. I'm guessing you don't understand the comedy or the story line, which means they are not your type of animes, but don't bash on good animes that you don't personally like.
I only watched one episode of One Piece and it was really stupid in my opinion. I shouldhv watched some more but i didnt... School Rumble was given to me by my mate Master_G and it was annoying to watch. Love Hina is the worst anime ever. No matter what anyone says. No anime can be as bad as Love Hina. Its just too annoying and stupid.
My favorite anime are : Samurai Champloo Blood+ Black Lagoon Mushishi Black Cat TsukiHime For now I'm watching initialD (I saw the movie and like it very much^^) and Ghost Hunt.
Initial D is very funny and exciting to watch. It has become one of my fav animes. Watched a few eps of Ghost Hunt and i didnt like it. I love Mushishi and Samurai Champloo. AWESOME anime's. Especially Mushishi. Brilliant short stories. Never knew stuff this good existed.
yo guys, correct me if i'm wrong. i dont see anyone bother putting berserk in there. Berserk is a highly recommended anime to yall. Berserk pwned all anime. The only animes for my opinion, that are worthy to watch is BErserk, bleach (maybe), and of course, initial D (although some scenes or parts doesnt make any sense if yall kno about cars). But seriously, Berserk is an anime that changes all anime in some way. (cant explain it till u watches it) Berserk is also a high rating anime. This anime is like the only anime that satisfied my needs (genre), sex, violence or fights (yes, it's 10 times better than elfen lied, and gantz and limbs and other body parts does fly off), romance, alittle bit of comedy (if u read the manga), and more. I cant name them all.Although the anime was good, but it didnt finish. The anime is just 10 % of BERSERK or less, the manga continues it (praying they'll be making the anime soon). If u read the manga, it will definitely pwne all animes out there. Tthe manga have many scenes that the anime took out. So jsut give it a try.
Thanks 4 the tip turbobenx. I'll get round to watching it soon. Watching Initial D Fourth Stage at the mo. Really good. Got really into it and it made me install Need For Speed Carbon again to target the mountain passes Takumi style. LOL. One of the races in the Challenge series i could never do, no matter how many times i tried (b4 i watched Initial D), i tried it again after watching some eps and i completed it EASY!!!! Its the race where u have the Corvette and u race the M3. Initial D has become one of my fav animes so far. P.S. How come no one mentioned Ghost In The Shell??? I downloaded the Stand Alone Series after watching the movies.(Which i thought were excellent). Aint gotten round to watching the series yet though.
