I'm about to get a smartphone, which has is using Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)

Should I upgrade my phone to (Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean) ?

Will there be any benefits for upgrading? Like no error bugs, more new features, faster...
I cannot find information on this.
    Thank you.

  2. Think of it like comparing Windows XP to Windows 8.

    Leaps and bounds.

There's a lot of quality of life improvements and the newer Android OSes basically bridge together the phone and tablet exclusive features that segregated Android.

I think that if our getting a normal android phone not made by Google it is inevitable that updates will come out at a slower rate. So it is important to check that the manufacturer has released the update. Or I guess u can always root the device but there are risks involved and the newer update may make the device run slowly and therefore it may not be wise to update.
