On the most recent episode of “Chinese Oprah’s” talk show, “A Date with Luyu” (鲁豫有约一日行), Anita Yuen (袁詠儀) and Chilam Cheung (張智霖) served as guests. Anita Yuen gets candid and mentions the time she was on TVB’s “Be My Guest” (志雲飯局) and admitted to falling in love with a married man when she was younger. Back in 2007, she recounted, “On my 20th birthday, he gave me 20 different kinds of flower. I was so happy. I thought to myself, this is probably what everyone says about being materialistic. It blinded me from seeing that he had a wife.”

Once that episode was aired, the media painted Anita Yuen as being materialistic and was being a kept woman by a rich businessman. At the time, Anita Yuen said she was not being kept, that it was boyfriend and girlfriend relations. She said, “I was naive back then. I thought if I said it out loud, some people would be able to understand me. I am willing to admit I was wrong because you can’t fool people. I will have to tell my child what I did wrong in the past. I was really wrong and I need to own up to it, but what I didn’t expect was that it would hurt him (Chilam Cheung).”

Anita Yuen turned to Chilam Cheung and cried, “What I regret the most was hurting him. I wanted to sincerely share my life experiences. I feel like it hurt him. This is what I regret the most. You guys can come for me, but don’t go after him. It can’t be the person I love. There are times I think I was probably selfish. I wouldn’t care about other people’s thoughts. There is no way I can please everyone, then forget it! The most important thing is that he likes me and I’ll be fine!
