WOW, I think these just won the most ignorant comment of the day. If you don't like the weather in Canada, either suck it up or move. You can't expect the entire planet being has tropic weather. Humans? They are as fragile as the next thing (probably MORE fragile), I hate to believe that croaches will survive (and adapt) better than human, but it's true -- human is SO likely to be wiped out, especially due to the mass population, than croaches because croaches can survive up to a few weeks even when decapitated! Try to top THAT. LOVE the quote, and you know what? In all likelihood the most precious resource within the next 50-100 years will be water, NOT gas nor oil. It has been called "Blue Gold" by many sociologists and economists -- and its diminishing quantity (and quality) make its potential price be skyrocketed. I know that meat is one of the least energy efficient food source you can possibly find, but then not everyone is willing (or able) to turn into vegetarian, we all need the meat now and then. I guess? I gave up automobiles, suffer public transit, changed my diet to half vegetarian (I tried going all the way, didn't work, fell sick for a month without break). Done plenty of community tree planting, though I am not giving up my computer, all bulbs at my place are flourescent. I try to at least NOT to be part of the problem. And ice caps melting is not a worthy issue? Wait until multiple storms/hurricanes/typhoons bigger than the size of Katrina knocking on your door -- and it WILL happen at this rate because there are SO MUCH more water, less salinated, more likely to be absorbed and fuel storm cells. Or perhaps you die of thirst because you cannot afford fresh water? Largest fresh water reserve, besides the diminishing underground water tables, resides in the ice caps, which runs free into the salty sea when melted (going into waste) The population who survived the ice age is much less than the population on earth now . There will be less land, less resources including food and water, higher concentration of conflict (over resources, among other things), and wars will break out -- and you may be the ones who couldn't tough it out. Being born to die is no excuse to destroy the chance of survival of future generations. Oh, I forgot, perhaps there won't be a future generation to be talked about.
hey hiake, nice to hear the efforts you make to be not part of the problem. Great job. To those who dun care or those who dun think their efforts count, you are probably right. It is the people who makes the effort to do sth when they can who will make a difference. The rest of you can just ride the waves when it comes.
