    from my experience, there is no such thing as a "Dvd-rip" for Chinese TVB dramas. At least for the ones you get on computer. It's still pretty pixaliated and blurry. The only noticeable thing is that the subtitles are very clear. But that's about it. sometimes even tv-rmvb is better quality.

    well i'm just comparing this to the quality you see on DVD-RIP movies. See how clear they are? I have never seen an actual TVB drama with that type of quality.

    i can assure the quality, as these are 755kbps compared to the HDZones @ 650kbps...and when you max the screen resolution, u are still getting a very high contrast and quality frames;

    instantnoodlesXP, u are totally wrong, yes there are DVDs manufactured by TVB and these are in the highest quality...the main difference u would see is that the film is way more clear compared to TV-Rips and that the TVB Logo is not shown on the top right corner (whereas TV-Rips will contain the logo)!!! to really understand the quality, I would suggest you to download 1 episode and convert in into dvd files and u will noticed the difference compared to the TV-Rip versions...also, the reason being why the DVD-Rips are posted later after the DVD-Rips cuz they won't starting selling the DVDs before showing on TV (if they do, what is the point of airing them on TV)???

    as far as the quality or clarity of the text/subtitle is concern, depending on the hardware/software encoder the person recorded the video, u can still rip from a DVD with the highest compression (decreased the picture quality) therefore the bit rate and file size would go down...even if the video was captured with the Theatrix 550 Pro and Theatrix 650 Pro, there are noticeable quality differences...as well as noted above, as these [DVD-Rips] are 755kbps compared to the HDZones [TV-Rips] @ 650kbps...and when you max the screen resolution, u are still getting a very high contrast and quality frames with great details;

    at one point i was compared when one of the cast cries, the reflection of the tears, TV-Rips are duller and DVD-Rips has the details...

    okay....well find me 1 tvb episode with the equivalent clarity and sound of an English Movie DVD-RIP. I would like to see one that is actually that good. If you cannot, then the quality is not exactly DVD-RIP. Yes, you're right. DVD quality has more detail, but is not the same as an actual movie dvd-rip. Go find a TVB episode with equivalent quality and you will prove me wrong. Otherwise, what i said was true.

    Regardless, it was still ripped from a DVD so I don't see how it isnt a DVD-Rip! Maybe not up to quality but you can't say its not a DVD-Rip.

    I believe it has no trackers but i got it from HDZONE.

  17. if you haven't noticed yet, any movie that is ripped has reduced qualities afterwards. i've seen several downloaded American movies (whether 700MBs, or even 2.01GBs in split scenes) and have yet to see one that doesn't become slightly pixelated when blown up to full screen. if every movie were not compressed after being extracted, we'd be downloading files in the GBs rather than 300-400 MBs. maybe that's why you haven't seen one TVB DVD-RIP that has come out right. the file size is about 2-3 times smaller than it should be. correct me if i'm wrong, please. i'm just speaking from personal experiences with ripped movies.

    u can't compare the DVD english movies as the equipments they used is way different...as u can see that all these great English movies, their spending is in millions (ex. $1 million USD = $7.7 million HKD) and there is no way and any cost-efficient that a tvb drama would use $7.7M...

    my saying that dvd rips means that the drama was recorded to a dvd from their raw format and they are distributed to tvb authorized rental stores...and their quality are really good already (of course not comparable to the English movies)...all movies/drama are in the raw format and they still distribution into both DVDs and VCDs...just that the VCDs has a lower bit rate and the quality therefore is lower than DVDs...and the reason being called DVD-Rips are as follow:

    1) higher quality
    2) they are indeed ripped from a DVD!

    the DVD-Rips in the end still has a higher quality compared to the regular TV-Rips as they are different...when u send out a document from the internet, there indeed a loss of quality from one medium to another medium (aka TVB Internal Media --> TV-Rip/Captured (AVI) --> RMVB)...however for the DVD-Rips, they are from TVB Internal Media --> VOB --> RMVB, there are LESS quality loss).

    and since i am not here to debate this with you on this forum to make it any longer...if u like my post, dl it, if not, LEAVE....i ddin't point a gun at your head to demand you to dl with my links...i have said this many time that some like to just get it over with and some, like myself, do keep a high quality collection of them...
