The Cantonese sound track, while appreciated, is a bust. The audio is muxed in such a way that whenever the voice dialogue isn't on, the background music suddenly crescendos ten times as loud, blowing out your ear drums. Having said that, its nice to see Gillian getting some work again (though I was kinda hoping for a release of Edison part 2, LOL...) Also, Tony Wong isn't bad as Ip Man, as long as you take him as what it is. That is, a role of Ip Man played by a stellar actor and not a real martial artist. Obviously, there's a huge chasm of skill set difference between Wong and Donny Yen (who is a genuine martial artist from a family lineage of such); throw those two into an arena and Yen would easily hand Wong his ass on a plate. Given those constraints however, the movie is actually quite entertaining. The stage sets and CGI is quite believable for a mid 1900's Hong Kong. Having seen HK back in the early 60's, I was immediately whisked back in nostalgia. All nicely done. Oh, and in perhaps a macabre twist, IMHO, I personally found that sultry singer hotter when she was laying on her death bed sans make up, than when she was all gussied up. Go figure, eh? As always, a big thanks to all posters for their unending generosity
seriously i'm kinda tired of ip man movie/story anymore.. i skipped tony leung and gonna skip this one too
