Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) will be back to tackle Hollywood with her upcoming appearance in the 2019 blockbuster Godzilla: King of Monsters, also known as Godzilla 2.

The film, produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros., is the sequel to the 2014 film Godzilla, a reboot of Toho’s Godzilla franchise. The 2014 film is the first installment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, a shared universe that features both Godzilla and King Kong. The second film in the MonsterVerse series was Kong: Skull Island, which was released earlier this year.

According to the casting news, Zhang Ziyi will be playing a key role in the film, as her character will significantly impact the events in future MonsterVerse movies.

Appearing alongside Zhang Ziyi will be Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, and returning cast member Ken Watanabe. Legendary has not yet released the details of Zhang Ziyi’s character.

Following Godzilla: King of Monsters will be Godzilla vs. Kong, to be released in 2020.

Godzilla: King of Monsters will be released on March 22, 2019 in North America.

Yup, when it come to these movies, the real stars are the monsters. Nobody cares about the actors. I was so hyped at the post ending of Kong, all these monsters coming together.

I haven't seen Kong, but I knew they were tying them together, I just didn't feel like spending the $ to go see it like I did with the 2 Godzilla movies...I'll watch Kong the cheaper way :p

I actually haven't seen Kong either, but I heard good things about it. Seems like the whole Kaiju genre is getting a huge reboot, gonna be interesting once Godzilla 2, then Godzilla vs Kong comes out. I honestly feel the delivery for the first one was on point, much much better than the one in 1998.

Heck yeah it was, the look for that Godzilla and story was horrible. They dishonored Godzilla's name for that movie :p

I enjoyed it when I was a kid, but re-watched it as an adult I kinda just go "god that movie was terrible", iirc, that movie got such a bad rep they actually renamed it to zilla so it can be distinguished it was the poorly made 1998 Godzilla lol

it was, although, as much as it was a bad movie, for a 1998 movie, the CGI wasn't that bad...and the subway scene and the godzilla chase scene at the end was quite enjoyable

I watched a lot of the original godzilla when I was young so when I saw the 1998 one, I was like who is this weak ass lizard. The movie wasn't that bad but it shouldn't be called godzilla.
