Sunday January 20, 2008 Hong Kong A promotional event for TVB's new series The Gentle Crackdown 2 <秀才愛上兵> was held at East Point Plaza today, attended by cast members including Steven Ma (馬浚偉), Yumiko Cheng (鄭希怡) and Wayne Lai (黎耀祥). The cast appeared in their costumes from the series and played games on the stage. In one of the games, the artistes had to aim some balls into a basket with Yumiko playing goalkeeper, but she kept getting hit by the balls and this raised a lot of laughter from the audience. This was Yumiko's first foray into making a TV series and she said that she found it very exciting and hopes to work with the cast and crew again in the future. She especially expressed her thanks to Wayne for teaching her how to act, praising him for being a good teacher and often bringing her into the scenes during filming. Asked what expectations she has for the series, Yumiko said she dare not think about it and will care more for the reviews. As for Steven being known as a lucky star for ratings, is she worried about bringing down his record? She replied that she will not bring him down. Steven was full of praise for Yumiko's performance in the series and said that as well as working together, they have also become good friends. He recalled one scene where Yumiko was suspended by a wire and had to throw bowls at the same time and when she was let down, she seemed very quiet. Later, they found out that the flying bowls had hit her in the face and left her with a swollen lip. Steven revealed that after this incident, she became known as a fighter girl. He added that she is quite crazy when they are not working. Asked if he was worried that the new year holiday period would affect the show's ratings, Steven said that he was not worried because his series have always received a steady stream of support and the cast combination with Yumiko is quite fresh and appealing. credits: batgwa.
