    it's a marketing scam just like every holiday where you are encouraged to shop

    plus it gives merchants excuses to make stuff like this and charge a liver

    Agreed, valentines day is more a marketing ploy to get people to spend more money. It's interesting though that even though many of you admit that it's a gimmick and you should treat the other half well all year round, when your in a relationship you still celebrate it. Interesting that...

    all the holiday is a Scam to make you spend money..

    (white Valentines is a day that is marked in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China on March 14) is typically observed by girls and women presenting chocolate gifts (either store-bought or handmade), usually to boys or men, as an expression of love, courtesy, or social obligation)

    The concept of "Valentine" or similar dates or walk down "Lover's Lane" are "excuse" for one to express one's love for someone who is not aware of being loved, or when one find it hard to say "I love you" explicitly! But once love is mutually understood then Valentines are commercial shears to fleece money off a loving couple when the money could be spent wisely for the mutual love.
