i guess if the question doesnt have a real answer and makes you think a lot, the person who asks is smarter. iono xD
It depends on the question asked and the answer given. Edit: I guess it really depends on the field of endeavor you are talking about. In the field of Number Theory, it is easy (even for a bright 7 yo some claim) to pose meaningful questions that no one knows the answer to. In other areas, like physics it is difficult to ask questions that are none-trivial and meaningful without deep knowledge of the area. In some occasions the right question will frame the problem in the correct way leading to a breakthrough, in which case, the person who came up with the question is smarter.
if the person who asks the question already knows the answer ... ... he/she is the smartest ... since he/she is simply asking something that they already know the answer to. and wants to see everyone else's reaction. sly and tricky.
