I've been a long time user or Norton Antivirus. Although I've noticed considerably less of a slowed down computer with 2007, I think there's better options out there. I used to like McAfee, but I found their 06 and 07 releases too confusing to use and the sys tray icons/msgs very annoying.

What does everyone else use? Any suggestions for a better antivirus program? A friend told me NOD32 is good, but I don't know anything about it... what makes it good?

    Generally favored avs include:
    Mcafee Enterprise
    Symantec Enterprise
    Kaspersky
    Nod32

nod 32 is the best i think and then kapersky and symantec. nod 32 is one of the fastest scanners out there and offer real time protection and uses hardly any ram and the computer loads rele quick unlike with other antivirus programs out there. kapersky is also gd but i've never used it so i can't rele say if its that gd. symantec is a gd program as it tends to detect all viruses like nod 32 making ur computer safe but it slows ur computer down slightly though they have reduced its resources now. so i recommend u get nod 32.

^2008 versions of antivirus came out like late or mid 2007s though lol...

  6. NOD32 is the best

Kaspersky eats up system resources like no tomorrow, plus its scanning constantly, slows down your system. NOD32 can hardly be noticed.

McAfee is decent. I haven't add any real problems with that plus it updates the software like once a week.

Agreed, NOD32 is faster than AVG which i used previously. It doenst take much RAM and it's basically quite easy to use.

Kaspersky does not, however if your computer is relatively old it will slow down your system. Also, you can turn off the function that scans constantly. Constantly scanning is good anyways, it immediately catches the virus or w/e and gets rid of it.
EDIT: Right now its using 8028 k of ram. Not a lot. Around the amount utorrent uses.

ESET makes Nod32 or owns Nod32, its a pretty good AV as everyone in HK uses it.

I uninstalled Norton a long time ago now. I generally stick to freeware ones like AVG and Avast.
