I think stress causes both. Just took a new job ... so much more money; but along with that, more stress. I suspect I'm losing my hair and I just found a white hair from the root up. Any other thoughts as to what causes white hair and hair loss? Anyone have a good reversal method for hair loss and white hair?
Gray hair is typically a result of natural aging. Pigment in the hair shaft comes from special cells at the root (base) of the hair. These cells are genetically programmed to make a certain amount of pigment (melanin) at specific ages. At some point in the aging process, these cells make less and less pigment until the hair has very little pigment. White hair has no pigment, and gray hair has some but not as much as a red, black or brown hair. Not all hairs respond in the same way or at the same time. So the graying process usually is gradual. You can't prevent graying. Some people start graying in their 30s, and some not until their 60s. Genetics likely play a strong role in graying. People rarely go gray overnight. If they do, it's typically due to alopecia areata. This condition causes the thicker, darker hairs to stop growing before it affects the growth of gray hairs — giving the impression of graying overnight. Alopecia areata eventually causes roundish patches of hair loss or complete loss of hair on the head or body. Its cause isn't known.
im also losing hair but dont have white hair. found out that its a family thing for me. at least i made my appointment with the dermatologist to see if he could solve my problem. EDIT: my hairloss doesnt actually fall out, i see that its shrinking.
transplant too expensive lah. even if the dermatologist cant do anything, ill just use that appointment for something else like removing one of my moles. so if my hair loss runs through the family, theres nothing i can do to stop it? how about slowing down the hair loss?
I think both old age and stress causes white hairs and hair lost but the most significant factor would be stress
grey hair coz of the age and stres... when i was younger, i onced asked my father why men turn out bald and women not. he stated that women dont (need) to think... lol
^ If only life's that easy... And yeah, graying hair has a lot to do with stress, but some people will have a "graying spree" because they have a lifestyle change, then when they settle in the graying kind of ease off (a bit). @Fearless: It's kind of funny to see the term "Melanin" in a post, it reminds me of my histology course...
I think stress and lack of sleep causes white hairs - but aint really heard of any ways to reverse it
loss of hair because of too much chemicals (hair color, highlights, perm, straightening, etc...) everytime I wash my hair, a lot of hair is gone but I'm not worried, cuz I'm hairy... Grey hair can always covered by hair dye... so another reason not to worry.... What worries me most is that my eye lashes fall off all the time... after shower, when I wake up in the morning, during makeup application, etc...)
haha .. i'm not that old. i'm going to blame it on stress. Boss Lady, I do think the chemicals play a role too. maybe i shld stop using hair gels! but then i'll look like a nut case at work! sigh ...
well it depends on the money, u´re willing to spend if it´s a family thing it can be stopped by hormons, the side-effect is u have to take them ur whole life,... it´s like trying to get the water out of a sinking ship with a bucket,... cos u don´t have anything at hand to push in the whole,... but if u think it´s worth it, u should go for it, go to the dermatologist of u trust and ask him for advice, hair that have been lost can´t be regained, if the roots are gone for good, but if u lucky they haen´t died yet and can recover
hmm at the front where the hair loss is located, the scalp is gone but i can still see really short thin light hair and those thin hairs doesnt seem to grow anymore as though something is blocking it from growing.
I think it's genetics so suck it up and live with it...or buy a bunch of chemicals and change it if it bothers you taht much
