Three-time TV King Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) paired up with former Miss Hong Kong Sonija Kwok (郭羨妮) in the TVB anniversary drama Under the Veil <無雙譜>, portraying husband and wife. In the fantasy series, both Wayne and Sonija are challenged with playing two completely different characters. Wayne himself plays a scholar and a hunter. Wayne said many viewers will find his relationship with Sonija to be very relatable and realistic, as it echoes the problems that many married couples face in today’s society. The actor said, “Sonija fell in love with me because of my innocence, but after marriage she starts to realize that I am actually someone who likes to do pointless things, and she gets really upset.” A married man himself, has Wayne incorporated some of his own experiences into his acting? Wayne exclaimed, “Of course. I always say actors should infiltrate their own experiences and mentality into their acting. That way, it is more captivating for the audiences. After watching our story, I hope everyone will be able to understand that it is important to use your heart if you want to live in harmony with your significant other.” Wayne and his wife Julia have been married for 18 years. Wayne said, “My wife and I understand how to play the game. We don’t have much marital problems and we get along really well.” On working with Sonija, who has a three-year-old daughter Kylie, Wayne said, “The last time we collaborated was in 2008 for Pages of Treasures <Click入黃金屋>. Now that she’s become a mother, she has gotten more mature. We have more topics to talk about. We feel like we know each other really well, so our chemistry is definitely great!” Under the Veil, one of TVB’s anniversary dramas for 2015, will air its last episode on October 23.
