Arriving in Singapore to hold a concert, singer Jam Hsiao (蕭敬騰) also went to visit new mum Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄) who had given birth to a baby boy last week. When asked about Vivian's condition, Jam expressed that she was recovering along nicely and had even asked him "whether I would like to eat her placenta" which shocked him. Jam had originally planned to visit when Vivian was still pregnant, but after undergoing a sudden caesarean operation, he was actually one of the first to visit her, so could now rub off some good luck from her. Jam laughingly said that because Singaporeans have the tradition of consuming the placenta, Vivian joked that she was going to ask her mum to make soup with it so that everyone could try but worried no one would be brave enough so in the end she decided to turn it into a chinese medicine ingredient instead and share it with her best friends. ~~~ cred: oncc
Ueah, but the idea is very similar, health and beauty, but placenta is nothing compared with a fetus. ..
actually "a lot of animals eat the placenta because..." it removes some of the scent of the newborn baby... which would attract predators to come and have a free meal.
