Monday December 10, 2007 Hong Kong The annual Tung Wah charity fundraising telethon <歡樂滿東華> took place on 08 December at TVB City and in line with tradition, a whole host of stars joined together to perform a number of unusual stunts to raise money for the hospitals. The show was hosted by MC's Liza Wang (汪明荃), Nat Chan (陳百祥), Tang Chi Fung (鄧梓峰), Nancy Sit (薛家燕), Wong Yi Hing (王貽興), Cutie Mui (梅小惠) and Anna Yau (丘凱敏). Denise Ho (何韻詩) kicked off the show with her performance, which raised HK$200,000. In last year's performance, Yumiko Cheng (鄭希怡) accidentally had her trousers pulled off during a trapeze act. This year, she joined with Kathy Chow (周汶錡) in a stunt driving performance and despite rumours of the duo falling out earlier, they successfully pulled off their act and raised HK$450,000 for the charity. Lydia Sum (沈殿霞) has been a regular at the fundraiser in the past, but as she is currently resting and recovering from her ill health, her daughter Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜) stepped into her shoes this year, performing in a flame throwing and fire ring juggling act together with four Mr Hong Kong winners, that wowed the audience. Joyce also gave a demonstration of hula hooping and successfully spun 40 hoops for five revolutions, raising HK$310,000 that included a special HK$10,000 from Lydia. Joyce thanked everyone for their support and encouragement and said that although it was quite hard and she suffered many bruises during rehearsals, it was all worth it. She added that she did not show her injuries to Lydia to avoid upsetting her. Joyce said that Lydia was doing well and was showing her support by watching the show on TV at home. Other acts on the night included Margaret Chung (鍾麗淇) leading a group of belly dancers in a rather provocative routine and a human pyramid on the side of a building by Yumi (裕美), Vangy Tang (鄧穎芝), eo2, Suki Chui (徐淑敏) and Joey Leung (梁榮忠). Mr Hong Kong strongman Rocky Cheng (鄭健樂) successfully pulled a busload of ladies in a show of strength and Bernice Liu (廖碧兒) and Raymond Lam (林峯) won a lot of support with their duet. credits: batgwa.
