Join hundreds of thousands of people on both sides of the harbour as their cheers rise in a crescendo of delight at this magnificent spectacle. It's an incredible part of the New Year celebrations, scaring away demons to ensure good luck. The spectacular backdrop of city lights, harbour and surrounding mountains make this event special. Head to the harbour, get a harbour-view hotel room, or take a harbour cruise and catch the spectacle of a lifetime! This year's theme "The Welcome of Motherland's 60th Birthday" will consist of 23,8883 fireworks (divided into 10 scenes, which will last 23 minutes) shooting out from 3 barges that cost approx. $5M HKD. The speciality of this year's fireworks display include fireworks that contain the "牛 (OX)" word accompanied by Golden Prymids to make the effects of "Golden OX" falling from the sky, giving wealth to people in Hong Kong.
