As his continued popularity four years after his tragic death proves, Leslie Cheung is one of the few stars to truly achieve immortality. Equally loved as an actor and singer, he starred in many of the iconic films in Hong Kong cinema and released a staggering list of bestselling hit songs. Just as important in our collective memory of this legendary star are some high quality TV dramas he made for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the city's public broadcasting agency. The last title he made for RTHK, probably the most significant one in this boxset, is his only directorial piece. From Ashes to Ashes (2002), a film he made for the Hong Kong government to promote anti-smoking, stars Anita Mui who also passed away in 2003, plus other famous stars like Karen Mok, Joey Yung, Leehom Wang, Teresa Mo, Edison Chen, and Gigi Leung. The other five featurettes, all made in the late 1970s to early 1980s, include Teenagers (1978) and Dead Knot (1980) from the acclaimed Under The Same Roof series, plus Woman at 33 (1983) in which he stars alongside Cheng Pei Pei (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), who shares her comments on Leslie Cheung in an interview included with this boxset. The remaining two titles are Heritage: The Young Concubine (1980), which touches on the controversial topic of incest, and youth drama City of Sand (1981). This limited edition boxset is limited to 2,000 copies. Each set comes with a unique serial number, five postcards, an interview with Leslie Cheung about his first directorial experience, footage from the Gala Premiere of From Ashes to Ashes, and a photo gallery.
