TVB's Chairman Charles Chan (陳國強) attempted to retain Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) by offering her a record setting salary of $36 million to stay. In the end, Myolie still decided to leave and rumored to have angered TVB's management. Allegedly, TVB has banned Myolie from appearing at promotional events for Every Step You Take <陪著你走> and all future events. Regarding getting blacklisted by TVB, Myolie said: "TVB has their own policies. I understand where they are coming from. I don't mind." According to news sources, Myolie's new agency is already negotiating a new drama series in China and filming will begin in November. Myolie will be receiving $7.5 Millions RMB for the drama. Regarding Myolie getting blacklisted by TVB, GME China's Stephen Shiu, Jr (蕭定一) said: "This is a matter between Myolie and her former employer. I have no comments. For the duration of the contract, I will try my best to make Myolie into a superstar. Once she finishes filming for a drama series in China. We will tailor-make a movie for her next year." It was a tough decision for Myolie to leave TVB after working with them for over 16 long years: "This wasn't an easy decision. Especially with TVB's new direction regarding their future but I was touched by GME China's sincerity about what I can do for them. We both believe I can do great things and we have a clear career direction\ for the future. I think this is more important than money." Besides doing so well in her professional life, Myolie is also rumored to be getting married to her boyfriend Phil Lee (李乘德) this December. When asked if she's getting married any time soon, she said: "I just signed a new contract with a new company. I have to prove to them that I am worth the money so I will be concentrating on work first." In addition, she also wants to clarify one thing about her boyfriend: "Many people are saying he's a nightclub owner but he only owns a very small share of the partnership. He actually works at a headhunting company. In fact, he gave me a lot of precious opinions about me leaving TVB. He's older than me and has more experience and has helped me think logically about what I want in the future. I am lucky to have him in my life." Myolie continued: "I am someone that lacks security but I also don't want to get stuck in a box. I hope to have new challenges and new co-workers. I need someone that can give me a sense of security. My new boss Mr. Stephen Shiu, Jr is one of them!" When talking about her new plans with the new company, she said: "I won't be only filming movies. I am also a TV actress. I will be filming a new drama series in China later on. The script for the drama is really good. I will let my boss handle the movie side of things." Creds: Applehk
darn. it makes sense for her to not be affiliated with past employment . you cant help but to believe a bit about the rumors
Pfffftttt Like her or any other artists who have left really care about it... Let's be honest, they knew this would happen and really didnt' care because the industry in China pays so much better. TVB can blacklist all the vets, then they'll just have newbs - the ones who can't act or sing...
TVB acting all salty...there's more money out there and all the former TVB fa-dans are leaving for it
Money is money, and even though who knows how the mainlanders have come up with so much cash to pay these HK super stars, they don't care as long as the treatment is better and they're getting paid. Only a few TVB veterans actually stay in HK to film for HK only not caring about the mainland $. So sad...hopefully the newbies improve over time...
If this is true, than TVB's mindset is very out of date and it's just bad business, right now she has the upper hand and she's wanted by everybody, Blacklisting her doesn't do TVB any good. The world is more open now and she has a lot of opportunities else where, so if TVB keep a good relationship with her, she'll come back from time to time.
I always felt she was very villager like(green)... I still don't know how she got 2nd place in miss HK(were all the contestants looking like "8 luerng gum?), those judges must be blind(rubs my eyes).
The veterans such as Flora Chan, Kenix Kwok, Sonija Kwok and Esther Kwan were the golden years of TVB with great actresses, then came along Charmaine Sheh, Kate Tsui, Myolie Wu, and Fala Chen that were ok la and sometimes would be great, They've been fortunate to recruit Krystal and Joey Meng to help out with the true good veterans leaving. But it's good that there have been great improvements with ones that have hung on for a bit such as Tavia Yeung, Mandy Wong, and Nancy Wu are starting to get more leading roles. With all these new female actresses that they're pushing forward just cause of they're prettiness....Obviously this is just my opinion. I used to be able to enjoy back to back TVB shows coming out. Now it's like every 4 or 5th show they put out is blah.
I agree to an extent. I agree the years of Kenix, Sonija, Esther were great years with lots of great dramas, but Charmaine pretty much ruled the gap between them and the current generations (Linda, Kate, Fala, etc). While i loved joey meng back in her ATV days, but she definitely disappointed me since coming over to TVB...I don't find her roles since entering TVB good Krystal on the other hand is good. I say the best main actresses in current generation includes Krystal, Nancy, that's probably it...and up and coming Mandy Wong...I just don't see the other Fa Dans as good actresses More or less, it also relates to the shitty dramas TVB been putting out lately, the previous drama with Wong Jing as it's director and the coming anniversary series with Anthony Wong and Wayne Lai feels like a hail mary approach by TVB. HKTV being blocked by HK is only a temporary blockage to TVB ruling HK entertainment for now...sooner or later, maybe in about 5-10 years, when a new TV station comes by with quality series to air on TV, TVB's reign is over
Unless that government blocks that TV station...seriously they should have just given the license to HKTV think of the taxes that the station could have contributed to the HK government...although I guess TVB pockets were deeper in that persuasion....
But they aren't going to give the licence to HKTV to air on tv as long as TVB have people on the board/committee that signs off on that stuff
yea, I still don't get the whole deal with that, maybe someone here can shed some lights? I don't get why the gov't won't issue them a license?
Yup...it's as bad as Mainland corruption sigh. Although yes I know corruption is every where Ms. Sherry
