I am a vegetarian now so I frequent the local veggie places. I noticed that two of the Chinese vegetarian restaurants sell soy/gluten junk food - jerky, instant noodle, etc .. and they have TRANS fat in the label. Thus, I asked the owners why are you selling these items that aren't healthy when your restaurant motto is to eat and live healthy. All responded: popular demands.

In fact, my cousin has been buying those junks since we started eating vegetarian food. It's full of MSG and have high sodium content in addition to trans fat. Her respond was that the stuffs are good and addictive. She can finish a few bags in a day. She feels that the labeling isn't always accurate and that a little won't kill her. Most importantly, she bought so much and throwing them away will be a waste.

Sigh .. there's a clear different between stupidity and ignorance .. what to say .. Anyway, I am putting this up so ya'll pay attention to what you buy even from vegetarian places that claimed everything is healthy. When you read carefully, it's not always the case. Even those imitation meats can be harmful if you eat too much of it. The preservative can affect your digestive tract.

One of the two restaurant has blacklisted me after my question .. lol .. crazy huh.
