Hong Kong actor Tony Leung broke his arm on Monday while practicing martial arts for his next film, "Grand Master". Leung, who was cast as Ip Man in director Wong Kar-war's new project was practising a fight scene with several other kung fu practitioners. Both Leung and the others used their full strength to create an actual fight. However, Leung missed a kick from an opponent and his left arm was hit, according to a report on the web portal on.cc. The "Lust, Caution" star is expected to recover in five to six weeks - the report quotes a doctor as saying. "Grand Master", or "Yi Dai Zong Shi', is a biopic based on the life of Ip Man, who was internationally known as the master of the late kung fu star Bruce Lee. Filming is set to start in August or September, according to earlier reports. It is not yet known if the schedule will be delayed by the actor's injury. At the end of last year, "Ip Man', a film with a similar subject featuring Donnie Yen as Ip Man, won both critical and box office success in China. tony needs to know his limit, for real..... Do some other films come on, he's risking his year long hard earned reputation
great actor and director combo and all but not enough authenticity lol. i think wong kar wai should stick to art films cause thats his strong point.
You guys do know that the real Ip man looks scrawny and weak. Tony looks bigger then the real IP Man, I think he will do great job with acting. Not martial artist looks like Donnie Yen and the only thing that mad Ip Man movie good was the fight scenes. The story wasn't even that good.
yeh, the real Ip man looked scrawny and weak thats why he was so legendary, that was one of the strong points of WING CHUN. u didnt have to be BIG. in fact it was created by a woman. but i still like Donnie Yen better =D however, i wont judge tony yet, will have to see the movie first
Looks weak but at least be able to fight.... Tony Leung is not a martial art practitioner... Donnie would be a better cast...
