Not to be mistaken for the 1950 American thriller by the same name; this story is about a tragic love triangle as a set of twins competes for the same things. One twin is covetous of the other's life as well as her man. Kudos to the production staff for their being able to portray Shu Qi literally as two separate but convincingly interacting entities on screen. Years ago, the simple technique was to shoot two separate events using the same person and then showing both clips together simultaneously, merged side by side; the only problem then was the characters could not ever visually overlap. In this instance, not only does Shu Qi's double characters cross over that imaginary line of separation, but the two Shu Qis are shown standing one behind the other, and leaning into and crossing one another; a true cinematic first. IMHO, great acting, timing, and stellar CGI done to clean up and merge the images.
