the war no one cares about. people are fucking animals, why do we do this shit to each other... so much anger for nothing. Religion, resources, just plain spite and ingrained hatred.

this is highly oriented towards the Palestinian side of things, but everything in this is also first hand information, so you can still make your own conclusions without too much difficulty.

One of the most telling features about this site (popularasians) is the dearth of interest of participants in political or worldly events. Other than the "OMG, I can't believe she said that..." or "wow, he was so cool..." the amount of caring for anything of significance is amazingly shallow. Just take a look at any of the obviously politically skewed subject lines, and then take a look a the total number of views; the statistics are quite revealing. Anything that remotely sounds political gets the least number of views. Why is that? Well, most people here are probably younger and less worldly, and to be fair, this is a site dedicated to Asian media and celebrity. To expect more interest in the global political arena here may be just asking for the moon.

At any rate, the clip reminds me of the quote by the famous American writer and anti-imperialist, Mark Twain, who deftly quipped "...Taels I win, Heads you lose," in his satire about how 1900's white Christian missionaries in China demanded compensation (both monetary and capital punishment) post boxer rebellion. The Taels being a reference to the then monetary unit of China, the Heads being those of Chinese "boxers" later beheaded to satisfy the foreign desire for revenge (many Christians, both white and Chinese converts, had been murdered by mobs of rampaging Chinese). Twain's voice was one of several in the wilderness that questioned the west's involvement in the far east during the late 1800's early 1900's.

With the staunch backing of the US body politic firmly on the side of Israel, films like this are, for all intents, voices in the wilderness. But like you said, what are we to do? Well, posting here does increase the chance that someone else, who is not normally politically aware, will see it. And that's the first step in changing things. Many people here don't agree with the Tibetans over their issue with China. However, you have to admit that the Tibetans won hands down in terms of public awareness. Palestinians need to learn from that. Instead of being aggressive (esp towards the US) they need to wear that "victim" cloak and wave it in the world's faces. It may take time, but eventually, the world wakes up and feels embarrassed enough to do something.

    Ralph

PS BTW, if anyone wants to read something interesting about the US and Israel, look up the incident about the USS Liberty.
