I don't really want to debate whether God being kicked out of schools was the right/wrong decision. Just watch the vid and I want to know what your thoughts on it are? I heard somewhere once that America is just like the Roman Empire: partying hard and getting out of control right before it collapsed. (something along those lines)

"Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, classmates or even themselves."

Hey CNB ;) its been a while la, just pop in here since you made the thread -flow

Knoc is right on some counts. Lack of God doesnt necessarily mean that a society should be decadent. Its the mentality behind that causes the society to behave this way. In this age and time, emphasis on "freedom of speech" or "human's rights" take PRECEDENCE over anything. No one dares to point out other's mistakes or take appropriate actions because the definition of "rights" is simply too broad; the long ago set moral values are no longer black and white as the society has developed more into the grey area where one can be right or wrong depending on whos point of view its coming from.

Nonetheless, beliefs (God or other beliefs), circumstances in life, etc... do play a role in how humans determine whats right or wrong.

I find that religion (unless taught in its entirety, thus encompassing all religion) should stay out of educationl

Morals and conscience do not just derive from religion...

Sure religion can help, but it can also be detrimental.

I grew up with no religion, and i can say that I am a moral and conscience person

Agreed, you don't necessarily need religion to form morals.

    ^ sounds like it.

i support separation of state and religion. Not everyone is a Christian; if you are going to include religion in state funded schools, which religion should you be teaching? and if the schools are teaching Christianity and the whole no one goes to heaven unless it's through Jesus, does that mean all the non Christian children are suppose to drop dead quit school?

i'm saying that may be one of the reasons why but not necessarily because of that. i'm more focused on the media and music - basically big avenues through which negative ideas are channeled to the younger generations who think it's cool to have sex when they're 10, to smoke or to take drugs. maybe pop a pill or drink alcohol.

^exactly, its a very wide issue to do with society these days and due to many factors, maybe including less religion
