This is an interesting series. The plot centers around the plight of women in society in the early 20th century in general and the Shun Dak or Shunde region near Canton in particular. Some customs shown in the story are obscure even to one born near the area. So, it turns out that those women who wear all black, carry a white handkerchief, and comb their hair a certain way are actually part of a nun-like group possibly unique to Shun Dak. Give it a watch.
