I have a theory regarding the reason why itachi left sasuke alive and why he wants him to go after him when he gets stronger. Like many people on the web, I too suspect that Itachi is going blind from using the magenkyou sharingan. The reason why Itachi told Sasuke to come after him when he achieves the same eye is because he wants to replace his deteriorating eyes with sasuke's. What do you think?
OR MAYBE> itachi knows that he cant defeat madara and only sasuke can. So he wants sasuke to kill him, so that sasuke can achieve the magenkyou sharingan that way and kill that that other uchiha!. wow my brain is working ovetime here.
i dont think so... i mean.. if sasuke gets the mangekyu, either way, he is also gonna go blind.... but i guess wanting sasuke's body would be a possibility.... damn.. seems the series is going homo and every man wants sasuke's body... nasty.... anyways, even if itachi wants sasuke's body, why would he? hes not much older than sasuke, thus meaning he can still be in good shape, other than his eyes.. but if he wanted the eyes, he wouldnt need sasuke himself to become stronger.. only his eyes require development... as for orochimaru wanting the body, thats understandable.. that old fart's body was deteriorating.
maybe, but he would still be seeing a bt longer if he gets sasuke's eyes and that might be enough to kill madara ( cuz we know that he wants to stop him from doing something ). And a person has to be strong to achieve the magenkyou sharingan so thats probably why he wants him to get stronger. and what do u think of the scond theory? i think it might be a possibilty that itachi wants sasuke to do something that he cant do. and thats why he keeps encouraging him to get stronger.
but itd be stupid.. i mean, if sasuke becomes stronger than itachi, then how would itachi control sasuke? itachi would be killed before anything could happen. honestly, i dont know.. ive been pissed off the 385 has been held out for two weeks. it couldnt be that easy to kill him...
i just read the 385 raw. the one on naruto fan was in traditional chinese so i was able to get a silght idea of what theyre saying. Also, for my second theory, im not saying that itachi awnts to CONTROL sasuke. I am thinking that just before he dies ( i dont think hes gonna die yet ) , he will tell sasuke the reason whyh e did everything and he'll turn out to be actually a noble person somehow. like for example, the reason why he killed all those peole was cuz madara somehow forced him to. And since he's too weak to kill madara, he wants sasuke to sympathize with his view and do the dirty job for him. I think that deep dwn, itachi realyl loves sasuk and he just wants whats best for him

^^ Not too sure about the theory. I know that toby said that Sasuke eyes have more potential then his older brother. I also remember that the nine tailed fox told Sasuke that his eyes are more cursed than his. Maybe the uchiha clan are a cursed clan of some sort and will probably tie in to the ending of Naruto.
man.. we could all make speculations, and be proven wrong, or we can harass shonen jump and the writers to force them to publish more chapters lol

My theory: Naruto is a horrid show/manga. Ty and good bye. *awaits flaming* EDIT: The most likely reason is probably the most cliche. Itachi felt sympathetic and let his brother live. Or the writer decided to further extend the already LONG story and came up with the idea you've put forward. All I know is I've given up all hope for the show/manga.

^^ I agree x2. If it wasn't for sasuke I would have stopped paying attention to Naruto along time ago. I usually don't watch the anime anymore I just read the manga. I think the show should have been named Sasuke instead of Naruto.-what?
i syopped wotchin the anime after the battle of naruto and sasuke yeh the anime is quite boring i was quite addicted to it at some point but because uni work i stopped reading the manga 3 months now i say One Piece is better than naruto well actually one piece is the only manga i read now and a bit of HxH which got shit artwork
lol honestly, i think one piece's artwork isnt much better.. but thats just imo i have a friend whos obsessed with one piece..
I guess you're right, but One Piece's art style works pretty well with their content. Although i don't watch or read it... Used to, but that was WAY WAY WAY back.
