Wafer-thin: Samsung's OLED laptop prototype This picture of a Samsung OLED laptop prototype raises more questions than it answers. Just how thin and light is it? Is touch-typing possible on that keyboard? Where's the mouse pad? What's that panel behind the display? Why is the woman pictured on the display checking her pulse? When can I have one? What a translated-from-the Korean Samsung page does reveal is that it's an AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) laptop prototype that Samsung's display division developed for the Society for Information Display's gathering in Los Angeles next week. According to Samsung, the prototype features a 12.1-inch screen with a 1,280x768 resolution. Perhaps we'll be able to glean more information next week when the display scientists, engineers, and manufacturers get together. As for when we might see this product on store shelves, Samsung has previously stated it'll start rolling out OLED TVs, monitors, and laptops in 2009. from Crave.com OLED is taking over biatches....but i don't think i can type without tactile feedback.
wonder if those keyboards are actually just displays and can be customised??? that would make it it drool material
that looks really gd. i've heard though that oled technology is rele expensive at the mo and prob will remain expensive for another few years, so it will prob take a while before something like this comes out and ppl will have the money to be able to buy it.
obviously but the price is also much >> macbook air. lol. but still having sed that the macbook air is a rip anyway.
this thing is going to cost and arm and a leg...the oled is not even being mass produced yet...so i gvei this thing 2-3 years before the catch on and begin to make an impact on the laptop market i'd still rather buy this than a mac air
yes true but it will be mass produced in a few years time but tbh some ppl wouldn't want it that thin and i personally don't like the keypad cos i type quickly cos i can feel the keys rebounding but with that, how will i have known if i have typed something. it will just feel weird.
