Sammi Cheng has received a lot of commendation for her performance in her new movie, "Fatal Visit". As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who plays a woman who harbours a dark secret from her best friend, shared that she immediately said yes to the project after reading the screenplay as she could feel the "electricity" from the character. "My character Ling has several layers and dimensions to her. I hope that my performance will enable viewers to see the complexity of this character, good and bad," she said. Sammi also revealed that she deliberately gained eight to ten pounds for the role so that people will get to see her as the complicated Ling rather than her usual comedic roles. "I also made appropriate adjustments to the way I walk and talk to better fit this role," she added. When mentioned that the audience was full of praises for her character during the advance screening of the said movie, Sammi smiled and said that she is thankful for the compliments. "This is a huge encouragement for me. I am very happy that they recognised this performance and to be able to show them a different kind of Sammi Cheng outside of comedy," she said. When mentioned that a film critic has expressed support for her to win Best Actress, she responded, "I have been nominated several times throughout the years and am already used to losing. I would take this with a grain of salt."
