Friday January 26, 2007 Hong Kong RTHK's Music Award Ceremony to be Held Tomorrow RTHK’s ‘Top 10 Gold Songs Award Ceremony’ will be held tomorrow at Hong Kong Coliseum. This will be Hong Kong’s music industry’s last award ceremony. It has been reported that Andy Lau, who will fly back to Hong Kong just for this award ceremony, will win the ‘Country’s Favourite Male Singer Award’ while Joey Yung will win the ‘Country’s Favourite Female Singer Award’. Leo Ku, who has won the most awards so far, is the hot favourite to win the ‘Media Award’, also becoming the biggest award winner of the Hong Kong music industry. Insider source states that Leo Ku is currently leading at 16.5 points and will be beating Andy Lau and Eason Chan to become the recipient of the ‘Media Award’. Not only will Leo be winning a ‘Gold Song Award’, his song ‘Love Too Late’ (愛得太遲) is most likely to be awarded the ‘Global Best Cantonese Song Award’. This year, there will be only one ‘Country’s Favourite Singer’ for each category. Despite this not being such a successful year for Twins at the award ceremonies, they will be presented the ‘Country’s Favourite Group Award’. For the ‘Best Popular Singer Award’, people at the event will have once vote each and home viewers will be able to vote through SMS. This year’s top 10 popular singers are Leo Ku, Hacken Lee, Jay Chou, Justin Lo, Eason Chan, Andy Lau, Joey Yung, Denise Ho, Miriam Yeung and Janice Wei. ‘Annual Top Selling Male Singer Award’ will definitely be given to Hacken Lee but Janice Wei, whose album sold more than Hacken Lee, will not be given the ‘Annual Top Selling Female Singer Award’. Joey Yung will instead be given the award because her total sales for 3 of her albums exceed Janice’s sales of one album. Hins Cheung, whose results at the award ceremony this year have improved due to the release of his first Cantonese album ‘笑忘書’. On top of this, Hins has a great relationship with RTHK, so it is most likely he will be handed the ‘Biggest Improvement of the Year Award’. As for the newcomer awards, Vincy Chan, Jill Wei and Kelvin Kwan are still the favourites to win. credits: mingpao, asianfanatics.
Is it me or does the other awards show seem to be not as good as last year? I hope this one will be more entertaining.
