just wear whatever suits the suit haha look at the pun there. but yea, u don't need to go that much in detail but like a white shirt always works if ur unsure.
Depends on the color of your suit and your tie. If you have a date, your tie should be in the same tones color of her dress. If you've bought your suit already or tie, go try different color of shirts with your the vest/ tie to see which one looks best. White is classic, but since it's prom, maybe you would want something more "special" or special. But please don't go with any bright flash color if you don't have the personality to wear it.

Depending on the color of your date's dress. you can match the vest or a silver vest and match the tie. if you don't have a date.. It doesn't really matter what color as long as you look good : )
