If she was anesticized... how could she feel herself being cut?

I bet it was all Psychological.

well .. if she's anesthetized, she CAN still feel the cutting. The only time she feels the pain is when there is insufficient anesthesia delivered - pending the dosage, length of procedure, area of operation, and method of delivery. It will be difficult to prove but not impossible. You can't dismiss everything as "psychological" because errors in the OR and ER happened, it's not odd at all.

No, typically with general anesthetics, it may be common to use a skeletal muscle paralyzing agent to prevent problems with putting in tubes to provide oxygen and to protect the airway. In this case, it sounds like the does of anesthetic was not enough but the paralyzing agent was. Therefore she was no longer under anesthetic effect but was still effectviely paralyzed; ie, she could feel pain but can't move.

It's not the first time that I've heard of this happening. It's the anesthesiologist's job to monitor a patient's vital signs and to keep track of the effects of or lack of sedation.
