Ok i want NON atheists to vote in this poll, for all you atheists you can make your comments within the thread. I've just noticed this fine line lately of the public's reactions to Atheists. They are entitled to their opinion because of free speech, but when they talk, they sound hateful sometimes. So to things like their Advertisments look like it should be publicized because of free speech or should they be pulled back because it looks like they are discriminating against others?
i think part of it could be some of the things religion say and put in is simply unbelievable and funny we wonder how smart and educated people can believe in such things , yes faithhh, but for those who don't believe it may be funny as an inside joke especially when we have nothing to prove but may be offensive if taken elsewhere. Also religion is a very sensitive topic , it will likely offend people more easily like talkin bout their momma
lol you do realize that your second question could answered by your first right? 2) their beliefs COULD be that they hate religion, and thus do not believe religion exist.
Atheism is no different than Theism...only that one is the opposite of the other. Atheists speak in hateful terms? There's a lot of religious zealots who speak in hateful terms too. Atheists have as much right to not believe in something as Theists have a right to believe that God exists.
On a related note to this, I like that Barack Obama acknowledged 'Non-believers' in his inaugural speech. The first US president to do so; its nice to see that a world leader can appreciate the fact that not all human beings belong to a religious subgroup. As I see it atheism is not a big deal in any first world country besides the United States. You won't find many Canadians quibbling over religious beliefs, and in the UK I believe that statistics are showing most caucasians have given up organized religion. I won't deny that some atheists probably come off bitter and spiteful, but I find that the groups defaming atheists as 'Immoral' are just being hypocritical. You won't find an atheist group declaring a Jihad or committing genocide because of religious differences. In my opinion atheism is merely embracing logic and science in the place of scripture and faith.
