Obsessive fan's 'a shy man,' but sure Uma Thurman's his 'baby'

The obsessive ex-mental patient who stalked Uma Thurman appears to be the 37-year-old virgin - or pretty close to it.

Jack Jordan wrote in his diary that he went through life never having the courage to ask any woman out.

"I'm a shy man, Uma, and always had a pretty low self-esteem," Jordan wrote in a small, blue, spiral notebook found in his car last year. "In my memory, I have never asked a woman on a date."

The lovesick vagrant referred to Thurman as his "sweetheart" and "baby" in his bizarre writings, which veer from the poetic to the pathetic.

"I could tell you about my life, my dream, play you music," Jordan scrawled in flowery handwriting. "If you think you love me, then how sad that your kids and you and me would have to spend another holiday apart."

Jordan describes how he drove for three days from California to New York only to be crushed when he learned the "Kill Bill" star had a new boyfriend.

Undaunted, he spent days trying to find Thurman's home before he came across a photo of her apartment.

Jordan eventually located Thurman's Greenwich Village apartment "from that one picture, 'where you were so lovely, baby,'" he wrote.

Jordan was arrested last fall outside Thurman's residence, two years after he tried to force his way into her movie trailer during a SoHo film shoot. He had also besieged her with an endless series of e-mails, letters and phone calls.

A shaken Thurman testified last week the harassment made her "fear for the lives" of her two children.

Jordan's journal entries became even more disturbing as time passed and his quest to win over Thurman seemed increasingly unlikely.

"Now it's the end of September and I live in my car," he wrote. "The thought of being away for more days, months and even years frightens me and makes me very sad."

Closing arguments will be heard this morning before the case is handed over to the jury.
