I found it ironic that the parent company of Dove, Unilever, also owns Ben and Jerry's and Slim Fast...
Yup ironic that they encourage self-esteem and yet sell slim-fast to "help" people maintain self esteem. Isn't self-esteem supposed to be natural lol, i don't think Slim-Fast is "natural."
I guess the thing is... thats what advertisers intend to do.... They create weird ads so that people remember the product name and the ad... Think about, It actually works
^ yeh i agree with ya that some random ad works..but that dove one just made me think -what? and -confused
Really? Dove had been doing this "we are very open-minded to the idea of beauty" for a while now. I think it's just branding. Many start to associate Dove as having a positive attitude towards beauty (instead of telling how imperfect one is in order to sell = oppressive, they tell you they can enhance your natural beautiy) Really? Am I the only person who thought it's a very smart (though ironic) commercial? It's very charged.
i like dove commercials because of the overall message that natural beauty is best. "talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does" ditto.
Even though Dove may own and market those other companies, I think this division is a little different.. it's definitely a plus for their products, but at the same time, I think their goal of raising self esteem is great.. I agree that I like evolution more, though.
Dove is certainly one of the outstanding beauty products branches when it comes to positive messages but I think this one is the most engaged one I've seen so far. (and that 'LA Breeze' by Simian is so great, encouraged me to put their album on)
interesting commercial..i guess dove is trying to promote the natural beauty for everybody and not looking so fake with everything
