Here is the topic: Do titles and images influence us Way too much?
What drives us? I expect to see plenty of people view this post.... but very few post.

Why do you think this title drawn world is like this. Is Judging a book by the cover O.K.?

  2. I'm not sure if I totally understand your question, but what I'm thinking is that we are all totally influenced by titles and images. I just sat through the super bowl and companies paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to advertise for 30 seconds. And I always thought the funny thing is that some people watch the game just so see the commercials. why are people so into these commercials, but during any other day people are usually frustrated that they have to sit through another commercial while watching their favorite "reality" show

Of course titles influences us we can't ignore all the AD's we see all over the place we are unaware of them but there are studies which prove that they influence us, even titles on forums and webpages. If we get exposed to them enough they will affect us unconsiciously like a brand name ad or website name.

i think i heard that if you didnt catch the readers' attention at first glance, you already lost a potential customer. or something like that. i think this is true, and thats why ads do whatever they can to grab our attention. i remember during highscschool elections, one person put up posters with the word 'free beer' in large font and under it said, now that we have your attention, vote for whoever. i thought that worked pretty well. cuz even though i already read it, when ever i past it, it made me think of what was written in small font

here is my question to u praxis:
Aren't titles and images 'supposed' to influence us Way too much in order to advertise something? why would someone use something that is not influential, and expect customers?

of course it does influence us.

personally when a film's poster sux, i wouldn't waste my time to watch it. if they ain't good enough to make a good poster, i don't think they'd be good enough to make good film. hope i ain't off topic XD

i think always seeing the same picture or images does affect our perception. and that is the reason why companies spend lots of moneys on advertisement. Making people see the same picture and images will make people feel a sense of acceptance of these products.

AWWW, YOU TRICK ME... I THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE NAKED PICTURE....

anywaz, i believe most people judge someone by the cover no matter how you say u dont. I think it's kinda natural to do it, but I don't see anything wrong with that either.

maybe it influences us, but to what kinda extent, its still we, which, in the heart, really made those decisions isnt it?

LOL I saw naked people and was like, OH GOODNESS WHERE I NEED TO BE THERE!!

haha I think there are more views vs post because sometimes other people say what you want to say before you get a chance. So its like you're reading through the posts' and you're like CRAP! Someone beat me too it. LOL thats always my issue.

I am sure a lot of things influence you, how an article is slanted, how ads are presented, how data is presented, it all gives a different twist to some certain point. Peer pressure influences us as well

And I thought going here, I would see a picture of some endgangered species and an article how some protesters staged a nude protest .
