In the recent years, TVB’s artistes are leaving one after another to work in the more lucrative Mainland Chinese market. After Raymond Lam (林峯) left TVB in August after a 16-year stint, it is rumored that TV Queen Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) will not renew her management contract next year. As Myolie’s exposure in mainland increased, her filming fee continued to rise. Although heavily featured in TVB’s grand productions, her local pay is meager when compared to her mainland salary. At TVB, she roughly earns $20, 000 HKD per episode, however, she is paid a whopping 150, 000 RMB per episode in China. Earning several million RMB per television drama, it is no wonder Myolie, who has been a loyal TVB artiste for the last 15 years, is eager to leave TVB to have greater freedom over her career direction and concentrate on the Mainland market. With Myolie’s contract expiring in mid-2015, the 34-year-old star has started building connections with production studios and directors in China. With experience filming several mainland dramas, there are reportedly entertainment companies lined up to sign her. In response to the rumors, Myolie admitted, “There are companies in Mainland China that have contacted me, but the discussion is still in its early stages. There’s still some time left with TVB, and my relationship with them is still very good!” Creds: ihktv
