Thursday February 07, 2008 Hong Kong TVB celebrated the Chinese New Year in the traditional style today, with an appearance by the company's Executive Chairman Sir Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫) and Company Director Mrs Christina Lee (利孝和夫人) to watch a light hearted celebratory show laid on by some of the station's artistes. The live show was hosted by Liza Wang (汪明荃), Margie Tsang (曾華倩) and Joey Leung (梁榮忠) and included sketches and performances by the cast of War Of In-Laws II <野蠻奶奶大戰戈師奶>, led by Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒). Geomancy expert Mak Ling Ling (麥玲玲) was also on hand with some new year horoscopes and fung shui tips. When Liza was asked if she felt that the line-up of the show this year was a little on the thin side, she contested this and said that the theme was centred around a family occasion and it was enough to have a reunion of her War Of In-Laws family. Myolie was proving her popularity at the event through the size of her lucky packets, choosing to hand out HK$100 bills, topping the generosity tables together with Margie and beating Liza and Bosco, whose packets only contained HK$20. Asked later why she was so generous this year, she just said that she wished for a good economy so that she would receive more job offers and it would bring her closer to her goal of buying another apartment to house her nine cats. She also expressed a wish to go and film in the mainland to make more money there. Miss Hong Kong representatives Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒), Grace Wong (王君馨) and Lorretta Chow (周美欣) were also present to act as hosts to the guests of honour. Kayi had just returned from her first trip to Japan and revealed that as this was also the first opportunity to go shopping after taking part in Miss Chinese International, she spent quite a lot of money on her spree. credits: batgwa.
