When TVB announced its program viewership ratings over the past week, there was a noticeable decline due to the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. Dramas and variety programs suffered substantially lowered ratings since Friday, September 25, and up until Sunday, September 27, which is the day of the festival. Viewership ratings immediately rose on the following Monday, which marks the end of celebration. TVB modern series, Every Step You Take <陪著你走>, starring Moses Chan (陳豪) and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), aired its finale last Friday evening. However, viewership ratings had been unsatisfactory with a peak of only 23 points. Its average finale rating was 20 points, and the entire series received an average of 22 points. TVB’s viewership ratings suffered the largest blow on Sunday, the actual day of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The final episode of the variety program Sze U Tonight <今晚睇你> only averaged 13 points, while the series Captain of Destiny <張保仔> and music program Sunday Songbird <靚聲王> both averaged 15 points. Ratings immediately soared on Monday, when Captain of Destiny received an average of 25 points, which is 10 points higher than the night before. TVB’s new series, Under the Veil <無雙譜>, received an average of 24 points and peaked at 27 points on its first night of broadcast. Creds: Oncc
ratings dont matter. tvb dominates. coglomerate rules. they know by budget whether a film.will be received well or not. prime shows vs time.fillers. common.sense
Ratings are based on TV-sets. I imagine most people will have their TV on, but since everyone is gathered, less TV's are on but COULD still have a pretty decent audience. Which one is better.. Under the Veil or Captain of Destiny?
What's the real point of tvb ratings anyway considering they are pretty much a monopoly on free to air in hk anyways?
Yup, plus at least it shows us that people were enjoying their festival instead of glued to the tube...
Rating system just tells people that HK people still watches TVB. I"m still annoyed by them airing series on weekends... People have shits to do other than watch TV all day.
